Kettering Health Network recently opened a 67,000SF medical facility in Middletown, Ohio. The $30M facility will provide a full-service, 24/7 emergency department with 12 emergency room exam beds, 8 extended observation rooms, an outpatient lab, imaging services, and cardiac testing. The attached medical facility includes primary care, heart and vascular care, orthopedic care, and general surgery.

With community need on the forefront of the planning and design, patients provided input during the design process to ensure a positive patient experience. Examples of this focused effort can be found in areas such as the observation rooms, which are large, quiet, provide ample amounts of natural light, and foster a healing environment for patients, family members, and staff. The design team focused on visually creating a space that felt like an extension of the community by using local materials and providing outdoor spaces.

With growth in mind, the team created 17,000SF of shell space for future expansion for services such as OB-GYN, endocrinology, and behavioral health.
