The 125,000-square-foot Virtual Care Center (VCC) is the beginning of a transformational approach to healthcare with highly flexible space that supports enhanced healthcare delivery.

Integrating telemedicine, care management, research analytics, and the business infrastructure to advance virtual care, the VCC ushers in a new approach where competing providers work collaboratively to cure our nation’s broken healthcare system in the first building of this 40-acre campus.

The building engages the site at the ground plane in a weightless manner and allows daylight to enter. Rectangular 30,000-square-foot floor plates optimize flexibility and accommodate changing programs. Each floor is strongly expressed as a horizontal band that represents the stability and strength of Mercy’s platform.

Undulating floor-to-ceiling glass spans between horizontal band representing the transparency of the Mercy mission and the accessibility to services. Balconies at the upper levels allow the caregivers to step outside from their indoor workplace to refresh and feel the impact of nature.
