The New Sibley patient pavilion reflects more than a decade of careful planning and development and is the latest phase of a transformative master plan for Sibley Memorial Hospital, a member of Johns Hopkins Medicine’s Washington, DC campus.

Early in this planning process, the design team met frequently with the strongly engaged local community associations to ensure that the goals for the hospital were met while maintaining the urban design quality which allows the Sibley campus to blend seamlessly into the fabric of
the surrounding neighborhoods.

The first phase of the development, completed in 2011, was a new medical building/ambulatory surgery center and parking garage, followed by a multidisciplinary cancer center. As the new front door for the campus on completion in 2016, the 200-bed new patient pavilion creates a medical center destination with all private patient rooms, a new emergency department, and expanded women’s and infant services.
